Diet Consultations
Diet Consultations
Naomi has been raw-feeding her dogs for over 14 years and has developed an interest and a passion for canine nutrition.
She is currently undertaking a Diploma in Canine Nutrition with the International School for Canine Psychology to formalise all her knowledge and learn more about canine nutrition to enable her to help guide and support as many dog owners as possible with changing their dog(s) diet to raw.
Naomi is now offering a one-hour diet consultation, including a personalised diet plan for your dog. She can help you switch to a raw diet for your dog,
You may have already started feeding raw and you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the information that is available on the internet. You could have well-meaning friends telling you how to feed your dog(s) raw but you just aren’t sure exactly what you should be doing, we can get you on the right track to feeding balanced and complete meals.
It isn’t as complex as it sounds when you know how to do it correctly.
Simplifying the process to make it less overwhelming where so much conflicting information is available.
The diet consultation will include a diet plan tailored to your dog(s) needs.
We will also help you to find the right food for your dog. The raw dog food industry has been expanding considerably over the last 10 years and there is a lot of choice.
Gut Health and Behaviour
It is becoming increasingly common for our dogs to have behavioural problems and studies have shown that there is a direct link between what we feed our dogs and how it affects their behaviour.
Since Paws 4 Training was established in 2009 we have often mentioned diet to clients. Highly processed, high-carbohydrate dog foods have been produced for many years.
It has become normal to feed our dogs a dry kibble for convenience and we wrongly assume that these foods are good for dogs. Kibble manufacturers use clever marketing strategies to encourage dog owners to buy their foods.
These foods are exacerbating issues with our dogs. Many dogs are hyperactive and cannot switch off and rest. There are also an increasing number of dogs that have food intolerances. It may not be obvious to dog owners that the food is a contributing factor that can lead to scratching, ear problems, and coat and skin issues, to name but a few.
In most cases, this is linked to issues with gut health and diet.
Gut Instincts - How your dog’s gut affects behaviour and health - Talk - Paws 4 Training
We have teamed up with Tamsine Smith, Leadchanges Dog Behaviour Modification to offer a 3-hour talk about how your dog’s gut affects behaviour and health.
Imbalances can occur for many reasons: pollution and other environmental factors, stress, poor early development or if a dog is a rescue / ex-street dog or if your dog was born via C-section. Also what we feed our dogs is a contributing factor.
If your puppy/dog has had antibiotics, this is particularly serious if these have been given in the first few months of their life. Vaccinations, chemical dewormers, flea/tick treatments, spay/neuter, illness and obesity.
Some problems directly linked to gut health are: reactivity/aggressive responses, anxiety and separation issues, allergies, overstimulation and excitement, poor digestion, arthritis and pain.
