Training for Labrador Puppies
Training for Labrador Puppies
Training for Labrador puppies is so rewarding, as with all breeds. However, I do have a strong affinity for the breed, as it has been a part of my life for most of my life. They are very loyal, loving, and intelligent. It is no surprise that they are ranked as the top breed for families!
They are an excellent addition to a family. However, they can be high-energy and generally require a lot of training, including both mental and physical exercise. Getting the balance right is crucial.
There are two distinct types of Labrador: working and show. The working type tends to be leaner and sometimes a bit more leggy, although this isn’t always the case. Some dogs may be smaller, but all working lines will tend to have a high energy level, especially the Fox Red variety. This is a genetic trait worth considering before you get your puppy, especially if you are still in the planning stages of adding a Labrador to your family.
The show types tend to be less energetic and can be more solid and chunky. Their heads are often more square.
Both love to work, but the show type do tend to be more placid
Personalised Training For Your Labrador
We can work with you from the day you bring your Labrador home, or even before, to help you prepare for your puppy and to help you plan and support you with correct socialisation and training right from the start, preventing the problems from developing that can be common with owning a Labrador. Creating a superb foundation to continue your training journey.
Our training differs from other modern reward-based training methods. We allow the puppies to problem solve. Which benefits their brain development, especially when they hit the adolescent wall from around 14 weeks of age!
We can accompany you whilst you go out and about to help you with correct socialisation. This can be done with your puppy on your lap, so you don’t need to wait for them to be fully vaccinated. Correct socialisation is crucial; the benefits far outweigh the risks.
The sooner you start your puppy’s training journey, the better.
If you would like some help finding the right puppy, please get in touch with us, and we will be happy to point you in the right direction and advise you on things to be aware of when looking for your family pet.
