Puppy Socialisation

Our puppy socialisation classes have been designed as a pre-school prior to starting puppy training. Early socialisation is essential to ensure that all puppies grow up to be well adjusted happy dogs.

These classes are suitable for puppies from when they have had their 1st vaccination and before their 2nd vaccine or up to approximately 13 weeks of age.

We do clicker training in all of our classes. We work on free shaping the behaviours so your puppy learns independently. It’s a kind and gentle way to train and ensures all puppies are calm and happy whilst they learn.  Treats are used along with the clicker.  A clicker will be provided for you to keep as part of the registration.

Some of the things your puppy will learn in the course:

  • Introduction to the clicker
  • Teaching your puppy to understand its name
  • Sit
  • Basic recall
  • Meets and greets (puppies and people)
  • Basic lead walking

We will also show you how to desensitise your puppy to every day items it may come across. Some of these items will include: a hoover, hairdryer, bicycles, brooms and mops.

Within our 3 week course your puppy will learn to be calm in the presence of other puppies and people. We will include close interaction which is an essential part of your puppy’s education. The meets and greets element of the training is all done on lead as it is important that all puppies are comfortable and relaxed. We do not allow off lead play within the classes as this can be detrimental to a puppy’s behaviour. It can cause boisterous puppies to be over excited and exuberant. Nervous puppies can shut down and become more fearful. We want all the pups to have good experiences right from the start. Which is why controlled greetings are so important.

We offer advice with general problems including: play-biting, toilet training, jumping up, crate training and preventing guarding issues.

We will teach you how to have a happy and well-adjusted puppy right from the start. The course is for 3 weeks and costs £37.50 per puppy.

After attending your first class we will email you supporting documents to assist you with your training.

Please see the start dates at the top right of the page to register.

Following on from the puppy socialisation course you will be invited to register onto our 6 week puppy clicker training course which will progress your puppy’s training ready to continue your obedience journey. https://paws4training.net/services/puppy-clicker-training-classes/
