Agility Training

Non-competitive agility training
We offer non-competitive 1-2-1 agility training at our indoor training centre.
Agility is a fun sport to do with your dog. We have taught many breeds of dogs over the years; from Terriers to Rhodesian Ridgebacks and everything in between.
An excellent foundation of obedience is essential to help you to progress on your agility journey.
Should your dog need further obedience, depending on what is required we can either book an obedience training session or combine this within your agility training session.
Essential obedience for agility: dogs must have an excellent stay and have the ability to focus on the handler and listen to instructions from a distance.
We always recommend a half hour taster session. This is a great way for us to assess your dog’s suitability and their level of obedience.
What you and your dog will learn:
Handling skills
Proprioception – these exercises can easily be practiced at home
Jumping
Weaving
Contact equipment
Sequences and courses
With 1-2-1 sessions you will progress your agility training quicker as the training will be tailored to suit you and your dog.

Our methods
All of our training is based on positive reward based training. We will be using a combination of high value treats and toys. Lotus balls and tuggy toys are essential for agility. As it helps your dog to progress their distance from the handler.
Toys may be available to purchase from the training centre, or we will advise you where you can buy these from.
Please see here for more information about the techniques we use in our classes.
Puppies can start agility from 10 months of age. Poles will be kept on the floor until they are fully grown. They can learn all of the techniques for agility without the poles being raised.
