Puppy & Adolescent Training Programmes
With a wealth of experience, we are excited to be specialising in 1-2-1 training programmes for puppies and adolescent dogs.
These programmes have been designed to give you personalised training. We can help you build fantastic foundations, including life skills. Life skills can include politeness to visitors, going to the pub or cafe, and attending a family picnic, etc.
Helping both novice and experienced owners right from the start to create the perfect relationship between you and your puppy as they grow into the dog that you have always wanted. Puppies don’t stay puppies for long. From 14 weeks of age, they can hit adolescence head-on. Causing some owners to question what they have done by getting a puppy! This can make owners feel very overwhelmed. Putting people and adolescent dogs in a class environment isn’t always the answer, especially if you have never owned a dog before.
Don’t worry about socialisation; we will teach you the correct way to socialise your puppy. There is so much more to socialisation than allowing puppies to play. We will provide you with the information and support to ensure that your puppy is socialised to your world in the correct way.
Paws 4 Training does not deal with dog behavioural issues.

What we can help with
We will put together a training programme of all the exercises you would like to cover with your puppy or adolescent dog. You will have access to supporting videos for the exercises that we work on to help you with your training at home.
Examples of what we can cover:
- Settle on a mat
- Focus exercises – response to name, eye contact and touch (target training)
- Bombproof sit
- Loose lead walking
- Recall
- Stay or wait
- Desensitisation
- How to stop jumping up
Our Methods
We use behaviour-based training, which includes problem-solving for the dogs. This helps their partly formed brain better understand and retain information.
We will work with you to achieve a foundation level of training throughout your training programme, which will be progressed to working under distraction.
By using problem-solving techniques, luring and free shaping, this will allow your puppy time to think to work out what behaviour we want them to do. We always work at the dog’s pace.
With over 17 years of professional dog training experience and a lifetime experience of having dogs, you will be in great hands learning how to lay down excellent foundations for future training.
Each puppy and its owner is unique, and we adapt our training programmes to suit the clients we work with.
Availability for Training Programmes
Sessions are available during the daytime, Monday – Friday, during term time, and on Saturdays.

We offer bespoke training programmes tailored to each individual’s requirements. The initial programmes are for 5 x 1-hour sessions. You don’t have to stop training with us once you have completed your five sessions; you can continue for as long as you like.

What is included within our training programmes?
The cost for our sessions includes travel expenses to your home or another suitable location; e.g. an enclosed field. Any secure fields that we have to hire for use for the training sessions will be an additional cost to the client.
We offer 5 x 1 hour sessions for our programmes. Please contact us for prices.
What is included in each programme:
- A tailor-made training programme for your puppy
- Ongoing support throughout your training programme
- We will give you feedback on a maximum 3 videos per day, 1-2 minutes long
- 15 min free q & a by phone or free WhatsApp questions
- Access to supporting training videos and documentation to support your training at home
- WhatsApp questions free for life. Should you require more input this will be charged per half hour or a full hour for calls or for in-person training.
Family members are welcome to attend the training. This will ensure you all receive the training techniques first-hand.
